Fake news: Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was born in 1900 to a local aristocratic family in Lyon, France. In 1921, he joined the army and was sent to Strasbourg to learn to be a pilot. In 1926, he worked for an airmail company. His experiences and accidents as a pilot inspired many of his works, from his first work The Aviator (L’aviateur, 1926) to Dropping Letters from the South (Courrier Sub, 1929), Bay Night (Vol de Nuit, 1931) and many others, especially his most famous work – The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince, 1943). On July 31, 1944, he flew a plane on a mission, taking off from the French island of Corsica and never returning.
